How to get a Dubai visa in 8 easy steps

The type of visa you need to enter Dubai or any of the Emirates of UAE depend upon a few factors like nationality, the purpose of your visit and the duration of your stay.

Getting your Dubai visa, can simply be a piece of cake if you have all your documents in hand, valid and original. Remember, the type of visa you choose is your choice, however the documents may differ.

If you’re looking for an easy way of getting your visa, then follow these eight easy steps.

Step 1: Determine if you actually need a visa for traveling.

If you’re a GCC citizen (Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain), you do not require a visa prior to your entry. Some of the countries are allowed a visa on arrival or visa free to Dubai, check online. https://goo.gl/VFndoo

Step 2: Choose the type of the visa you want to apply for.

There are three types of visas any traveler can apply for, depending upon the traveler’s preferences. The visas available are for 14 days, 30 days and 90 days. You can also apply for a single entry which means the visa can only be used once. After you have exited Dubai, you cannot re-enter on the same visa, whereas the multiple entry allows travelers to enter Dubai multiple times until the expiry of the visa.

Step 3: Find a sponsor to apply for your visa.

Hotels, airlines or tourist companies can apply for a visa on your behalf. Other organizations based in the UAE can also apply for your visa. Individuals like your relatives or friends who hold a UAE residence visa, are also eligible to apply for a visit visa on your behalf, subject to guidelines.

Step 4: Submit all your required documents.

Once you have decided who would be sponsoring your visa, submit your travel documents to them. The main documents are:

1.       A valid 6 months passport.

2.       A clear white background photograph, not older than 3 months.

3.       Confirmed air tickets.

4.       An application form.

Step 5: Pay the visa fees.

Upon submitting all your documents, according to the type of visa you have chosen pay the required visa fees.

Step 6: Receive your visa.

Once you have paid and submitted all your documents to your sponsor, it takes a maximum of 5 working days to get your visa in hand.

It is an e-visa that will be issued, so your passport is not required to be stamped. You can even apply for your visa without having to visit any travel agency. The visa is applied online.

Step 7: Ensure you have an “ok-to-board”.

Once you have received your visa, make sure you check if the airline requires an ok to board on your visa or no. “Ok-to-board” approval is an airline requirement without which passengers will not be able fly over to Dubai, since the visa is not pasted on the passport but is issued as an e-visa.

Step 8: Arrive in Dubai with all your documents.

Once you have boarded the flight to Dubai, make sure you’re carrying all your valid documents like your passport, return airfare, hotel bookings (if any).

Clear the Dubai immigration, and enter Dubai.
